Growing up, I was very athletic and blessed with having the natural ability to compete in a variety of sports. I participated in baseball, basketball, soccer, diving, track & field, cross country and 8 on 8 flag football. My fitness experience started at the age of 19, at a local 24 hour globo gym. After more than 5 years there, I studied and became an NSCA-CPT Certified Personal Trainer.

Towards the end of 2011, I discovered CrossFit on YouTube. I began mixing CrossFit in with my strength micros and working on building my engine and form. In January of 2012, I became a CrossFit Level 1 Certificate holder. I switched from mirrors and muscle size to the 3 modalities of CrossFit (weightlifting, gymnastics, metabolic conditioning) and began coaching others using these modalities and implementing them into my own training. Just over a year later, I noticed a plateau or possibly even a loss in my previous strength.

I looked to the community of CrossFit and started training at other boxes, including Steel Caliber, LBC, Rage, Explode and South Mountain. It was here I learned that “Anyone can make you tired, but not everyone can make you better.” I got better, period. I continued to train with athletes who were more advanced and who pushed me to work on my “goats.” I most frequently worked with Kurt Miller from SMCF. We ranked 13th out of over 2000 affiliates in the Mid-Atlantic Region, which qualified us for regionals.

I have obtained so much through CrossFit, and it has changed the way I live and train other people. My goal is to create excellence within every person’s inner athlete who steps onto our floor, and to make a profound impact on YOUR life.

“My love for fitness really began with CrossFit. When I was younger, I swam competitively for about 10 years, ran track and played soccer. None of these were things that I was very passionate about, but my parents saw it fit to keep me in these sports nonetheless. Being mentally exhausted from hours of practices and countless weekends spent competing, after high school I totally dropped sports all together. It was not long after that, the desire to stay active got to me. Hitting the gym and lifting weights just to try and enhance physical features yielded little results and never kept my consistant interest.
It wasn’t until I was researching shin splints to try and help a friend, and came across Kelly Starrett’s Mobility WOD that I started even considering CrossFit as anything more than just a new fad. Learning how CrossFit could be used as a diagnostic tool for movement mechanics, proper motor function and full range functional movement got me, hook, line, and sinker. It was a way that I could finally work with people who really cared about moving better to perform better, whether it be a competing athlete, weekend warrior, soccer mom, or a young kid just trying to have fun and improve themselves. In the CrossFit community, it always seemed like everyone was trying to learn and improve with one another, motivate each other and just plain have fun, something that I wasn’t necessarily finding anywhere else.
My goal with CrossFit, is to be able to actually help like minded people, who really care about their performance, health, preventing injury, and just having fun. I want to become the best trainer and coach that I can possibly be, while at the same time making differences in other people’s lives, as well as my own. CrossFit has opened my eyes to a totally different world, and I can’t wait to see where it will take me.”
